Own Your Life

I am the biggest advocate for people to follow their dreams. It’s no secret that I will cheer on anyone out there having a crack. I’m the friend that has your back, gives you constructive feedback & won’t just stroke your ego. I am living proof that hard work pays off & that you don’t have to settle for mediocre.
I started with nothing, honestly nothing. When my father left, my mum had to claim bankruptcy and then continue to raise two children. I was all but 10. It’s fair to say that my brother and I missed out on a lot growing up. One thing we never missed out on was love & lots of it. I remember times as I got older where I had less than a hundred dollars to my name with $1000’s of dollars worth of bills to pay. I’ve been in some really dark places, lied to, cheated on. I’ve even had women go out of their way to hurl abuse at me because they felt ‘threatened’. All of these things have shaped me into the person I am today and looking back I feel blessed to have had such heartache. I am strong, I am happy, I am on my own journey & I am the most confident woman you’ll ever meet. The harder people try to knock me down, the more determined I come back. Negativity is like fuel, it’s an adaptation that I’ve built & one in which I flourish.
My heart is wild & I don’t fit into any stereotype. I am me and I LOVE that. The only person who determines what I do or how successful I will become is me.
Your dream may not be to leave a legacy, your dream might be as simple as learning how to cook or dance. To travel or write a book. I just wish more people understood that they are the ones who dictate how well they do it. You are not only unique by your DNA, but I can guarantee you that your hopes, dreams, beliefs and ambitions are also unique to you. I wish people would stop judging their own success & their own ambitions based on what the rest of the world thinks.
I can‘t count the amount of conversations I’ve had with people unhappy. With their life, their relationship, their family, their job.. the list goes on. It’s always baffled me that people stay in places, with people that make them so miserable. I find it so hard to comprehend. We live in a world that is so full of abundance. There is honestly no excuse to be miserable unless you want to be. That’s probably the hardest thing to grasp in a world of extreme ownership. See, in my life, I honestly believe that everything is my fault. Everything that happens to me is a consequence of an action or reaction I have had.
I hope in writing this that I can inspire at least one person to own their life. Sometimes shit happens that may feel out of your control (I can hear all you ‘it’s not my fault’ ladies in the back) but you have complete control over how you react, act, respond etc. sometimes you just have to cop it on the chin. But please keep moving, find something to chase, a goal or an ambition. I guarantee if you want it as much as your need to breath, ain’t nothing going to stop you!
